I love the chai milkshake from the tea house, so I had to try and figure out the recipe. You'll need:

- Good vanilla ice cream
- Pacific chai
- Milk

I seriously have no idea what the measurements are, but it produces a slightly sweeter version of the chai milkshake they make. Go light on the chai, you can always add more if it's not spicy enough.

I make one with iced spice tea, vanilla soy milk or yogurt, banana, honey, (and ice cubes, sometimes, if my banana wasn't frozen, but it usually is) which is super-tasty and actually decently healthful. The idea came from Emack&Bolio's divine concoction which they call "liquid yoga" which is pacific chai, banana, and frozen vanilla yogurt.

Mmmm...that sounds tasty. I have all of that in the house, so I may have to try that this evening.

Funny you put this up today. Last night I was thinking about the wonderfulness of the Chai Milkshake from the tea house. I went to the *bucks and got a version of Chai...and it tasted like cinnamon potpourri. It was horrible.

Pacific Chai is very sweet, and works well in drinks like this. Tazo chai is pretty much my favorite though. It's a bit spicier, but so friggin' good.

Either way, now you have the tools to make your own so you don't have to support the evil empire :)

I am so frickin' making this tonight.

And then I'll go sit on my porch in the dark and pretend like I'm at the Tea House. Of course, the main ingredient will be missing... you guys.

Aww...

We'll all have to take a road trip down there and sit on the porch drinking chai with you some time then.

They throw whole cardamom in. That's why I don't get the ones from the Teahouse anymore. Little rocks of cardamom make me feel ooogy.

Hmm...that explains why the milkshakes are sometimes a little on the grainy side when they get to the table. I imagine they probably make their own chai spice too. I've not looked into that myself, hence the call for powdered chai mix.

Hmm...I might have to experiment with fresh spices and see if I like that better.

Yes, they use somewhat crushed spices from their chai mix. Bill probably knows the exact proportions, because he lives there. ;)
